Galerie B Design evolved from the talents of Bob and Patty Bradley. Together we strive to lead a creative life and our passion for our work continues as we share with others the inspiration and excitement in wonderful compositions.
It was quite by accident that I was given the opportunity to learn photography in high school as I inherited the yearbook and newspaper staff photographer job from my older sister. I was sent off to the University of Northern Iowa to take a week long class using the school's Minolta 35mm SLR camera and instantly took to the smell of darkroom chemistry. My entire high school years were spent following sports and activities and late afternoons working in a darkroom.
I pursued a career following with a degree in Portrait and Commercial Photography and the rest is history. I spent 30 years photographing weddings, portraits, commercial work and almost anything that goes with the business. I can safely say that at one point my brides were the former flower girls in my weddings.
I saw the rise of digital as just one more challenge and incorporated new techniques and product offerings into my business.
As I approached the later years in our studio, I thought about myself looking for a new adventure. I knew that I had made many friends along the way and felt privileged to have worked with thousands of clients over the years, but it was time to move forward.
I took on a temporary role in the downtown Chicago area and it lead me to finding myself in a new type of role right in the area of smartphones and tech support. I realized that I could make a living helping others understand their technology and it was challenging! I also learned marketing skills along the way and made social media one of my specialties as a side business.
I look forward to bringing this crazy journey to a crossroads. I too have found my creative outlet with design and imagery. Bob has pushed me out of my portrait mode and into a world of creating art from my photography. From our travels we have cataloged work but I sometimes find the best images right in our own backyard.
As always, Bob is my teammate and we collaborate and also disagree, but in the spirit of the images we create you will find our style continually evolving.
I found my creative outlet at an early age and began drawing and sketching. My teachers recognized my skills at a young age and I studied Art through high school which lead me to receiving a scholarship to Commercial Art studies. I also studied Art Education at the University of Northern Iowa, but after marrying my wife I began working with her doing professional retouching which I attended workshops to broaden my skills. We eventually built our own Commercial and Portrait Studio in my hometown in Iowa and after 24 years we have moved on from that business and I have returned to Fine Art and Commercial work.
I found that having a network of other creative people helps to inspire my own work and prior to moving to this area I belonged to the Studio 630 group exhibiting my works at various locations around Lombard and Villa Park, IL. When we moved to Manteno I found the CAC and was excited to join in with other local artists. I also find the quality of presentation of the artwork to be just as important, and I believe this also comes from my experience framing photography for customers at the studio we owned.
My favorite subject material is environmental subjects as I like the calm and peaceful feeling that my work portrays. I have sold many pieces to clients who have commented about the enjoyment the painting brings to their home interiors. I believe there is a place in every home for original artwork.
